“Stop to smell the flowers as they bloom.”

I provide individuals and families with an objective view of where they stand, what risks they face, and what their options are going forward. For those folks that I am fortunate enough to work with, I then develop a plan – utilizing broadly diversified, low cost investments – to help reach their financial goals.

I spent a decade constructing mutual fund portfolios and working with financial advisors from 9-5 while playing guitar in a rock band at night. I eventually hung up the instruments, put away the amplifiers, and went to law school. I clerked for two years during school, took every estate and tax class I could fit into my schedule, and then spent four years working as associate attorney in Portland. My primary responsibilities as an associate included drafting estate planning documents, preparing estate tax returns, and administering trusts and estates. The legal work was interesting, however most of the work was transactional and most of my “clients” were people that had passed away. When Confluence approached me about joining the team (and working with living people again) I jumped at the chance to work in an environment where client relationships span decades, not months.

I am proud to be part of such an experienced, professional team. We have the resources to analyze a wide variety of issues and to provide holistic solutions for our clients. This depth of knowledge helps us develop comprehensive financial plans and it helps our clients sleep at night knowing that all of their concerns have been heard and adequately addressed.

Little known fact:

I can yell really loud. I once yelled to Bono during a U2 concert and, not only did he hear me amongst the 17,000 screaming people in the building, but he pulled me up on stage to play guitar with his band.

Most likely to say?

“Sorry I’m late, my two year old son [fill in the blank here]”

Outside of work I…

Spend as much time as I can with my wife and our two young children. I enjoy snowboarding, surfing, riding my bmx bike and playing music. I’m a Timbers season ticket holder and a long-time Boston Celtics fan.

Perfect day:

Snowboarding in the middle of the Chugach Mountain Range, followed by quality time with the wife and kids.

What makes me get out of bed in the morning?

Our baby monitor.
